New board member for Livable Housing Australia

9 Sep 2014

Executive Director of the Residential Development Council, Nick Proud, has been appointed to the board of Livable Housing Australia (LHA).

Amelia Starr, LHA’s Executive Director, says Mr Proud’s contribution to the board will further expand LHA’s influence and engagement with the residential development sector.

“Nick understands the challenges facing the housing industry – and the opportunities presented by livable, lifespan-friendly homes.  We look forward to Nick’s contribution to LHA and a more livable future for all Australians,” Ms Starr says.

Prior to his appointment at the Residential Development Council in February 2014, Mr Proud held technical and policy roles in a variety of organisations including the Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council and the Housing Industry Association.

Mr Proud welcomes the work already undertaken by LHA to establish a nationally-consistent approach to livable design, including the development and application of the Livable Housing Design Guidelines and quality mark certification.

“The industry’s leaders understand that a livable home is simply good design that meets the needs of all Australians,” Mr Proud says.

“Our industry has many great examples of livable housing product, but the developers have been quietly focused on getting their product to market.  Our challenge – and our opportunity – is to shine a light on the livable housing product that can be achieved in the absence of regulation,” Mr Proud concludes.
