With SEPP 65 apartment guidelines and NDIS requiring livable housing, all Architects, Building designers, Builders, Occupational Therapists, Access Consultants and Building Surveyors who have professional currency and professional indemnity currency are encouraged to work with the LHA Guidelines. Whilst these specific occupations can sign off on designs as being consistent with LHA Silver, Gold or Platinum design principles they cannot issue the LHA Logo with their assessments, nor use the LHA logo on busines cards or company marketing unless they have completed the LHA Guideline Assessor course and been deemed competent.
Issue of the LHA logo confirms that plans or as built designs have been assessed and verified as being compliant with the Livable Housing Design Guidelines by a person deemed competent in assessment, using the Livable Housing Design Guidelines.
The logo can then be used by an organisation in marketing their plans or as built designs to prospective purchasers. This will also confirm to government authorities and other organisations that the plans and as built assessments comply with the Guidelines. Compliance to LHA Silver level is often a condition for some grants, tenders and contracts to have the LHA logo provided by an LHA Design Guideline Assessor. and doing the course and registration with LHA is a prerequisite.
As only an LHA Guideline Assessor who has been deemed competent can issue the logo, it is important that professionals undertake the 3 hour training session and complete the online open book exam in order to receive their Certificate of Competency.
