The Livable Hosing Design Guidelines provide the opportunity for many designers, developers and accommodation providers to expand their markets by building houses and apartments that can offer long term homes for the whole community, regardless of age, ability or changing life circumstances.
The LHA Guidelines are also being called up by a variety of governments and organisations that have recognised the benefits of this inclusive approach to housing.
Some of these organisations include local Councils that have requirements for certain percentages of LHA certified homes to be provided through local planning schemes, State Environmental Planning Policy (SEPP 65) developments in NSW that incorporate LHS requirements, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIA) - Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) that now requires Silver and Platinum levels to be included in relevant sections of SDA.
Building developers that provide services to government agencies and are delivering developments such as the Commonwealth Games Village on the Gold Coast, are incorporating LHA Certified homes into their projects and smaller developers are recognising that many of the LHA Certified homes are selling off the plan.
The demand for LHA Certification is expanding at a rapid rate and the need for LHA Design Guideline Assessors is rapidly rising.
LHA strongly encourages uptake of the guidelines in all new housing developments and upgrades across Australia and provides training through IATA for people interested becoming Assessors. For all course details, dates and locations go to www.accessinstitute.com.au
