In 2017 Lifetime Homes completed Tasmania’s first Universal Access display home, built to the Platinum level of the LHA Design Guidelines. The Lifetime SmartHome is available for viewing in New Town, Tasmania until March 2018 to showcase the benefit of a certified LHA Platinum level home.
This provide retirees with the option of staying in their own home and aging in place; accessible living for someone living with an injury or disability; and gives peace of mind that whatever access issues a person may face throughout their lifetime, they have ‘future proofed’ their home.
In addition to achieving the LHA Platinum level 16 requirements, the Lifetime SmartHome also demonstrates many other accessible features such as integrated Smart Assistive Technology, wheelchair access to the clothesline and veggie garden, and additional accessible features in the kitchen and laundry.
Lifetime Homes Tasmania specialises in providing homes for retirees and people with a disability. Designing and building to the LHA’s Livable Housing Design Guidelines, a Lifetime Home is accessible, functional, low maintenance and easy living. Lifetime Homes have certainly demonstrated that an accessible home doesn’t have to look clinical, but is able to look like any other beautiful, high quality home.
